Garrett Devenney, MPH

Drexel University

Garrett Devenney recently obtained his Master of Public Health (MPH) from Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health. Over the course of his graduate program, he interned at Merck & Co. within the Global Vaccine Public Policy Team. His team focused on shaping the vaccine ecosystem through policy efforts at the state, federal, and international levels. This included educating vaccine coalitions and advocates, authoring policy briefs, and strategizing engagement with external stakeholders such as the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Prior to Drexel, Garrett attended Allegheny College, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Global Health Studies. During his undergraduate career, Garrett conducted community health needs assessments for local hospitals and piloted an Ebola risk perception survey and concurrent study. He also spent a summer in the southern Indian state of Karnataka interning with a grassroots public policy organization, where he drafted a quality assurance proposal for the Ministry of Health. Based on the culmination of Garrett’s experiences and personal background, his main policy interests include rural health and access to care concerns, vaccines and preventive care, and sustainable financing.
